Card for Kids~ Lazy Saturday

It's really nice to have a saturday without sports. We have a "bye" this week so we are enjoying a lazy day home. I do have to admit...it feels a bit strange being home, but I think I could get use to having a few saturday's like this. Well at least I know what I have to look forward to some day.

So today marks the end of my CAD January challenge. I am proud to say I made it all the way through! It's hard to believe that today is actually the last day of January!

Since I am finishing up my "pledge" for the v-day card drive for the children's hospital...today's little card is one that is also heading out the door for the kids.

I decided to pair up the "trend" of cupcakes with the theme of valentine's day...and played off of "be mine" and added in "cupcake" for obvious reasons ;).

Here's my card:

Thanks again to everyone that cheered me on during this month of cards with comments & emails...it really made the "journey" more fun. Also a special thank you to Jennifer, Donna, Shelly and Leah who all played along during the challenge. If you all didn't get a chance to check out their work, you need to head on over to their blogs...because these ladies are as sweet as they are talented!

Minnie Mouse~Be Mine Card~ Cards for Kids and a *TOOT*

Can you believe that there is only 1 more day in January! It's crazy that we are almost through an entire month of this new year! I am still trying to learn to write 2009 on my checks, anyone else?

Today's little card comes from the Mickey and Friends Cartridge. This little cartridge has all of the cute little "true" Disney cuts...so many cute poses to choose from.

Since we just booked another voyage on the Disney Ship (Aug. can't come fast enough!)...I felt inspired to pull this little cartridge out today. I also thought, that this would be a super cute cut that kids would enjoy so this little card will be heading out in the mail for the kids v-day card drive.

Here's my card:

Now for my *TOOT* I received an email last night requesting one of my cards for and upcoming issue of simply handmade (the new trends magazine)...I am DELIGHTED to be included in the april/may book.

Have a super day everyone!

Little card for the kids...

So I finally got this little car pieced together...wow I have to say this cartridge is not the easiest to use. Although, now that I have this little cut pieced together the next time I will know what not to do ;)

Anyway, here's my little card. This will be heading out in the mail soon for the children's hospital card drive that I am participating in.

Well I am off to clean up my studio so I can make it through 2 more days of this CAD challenge - it's a mess in here!

Have a great day everyone

A Quiet moment...

I've been looking for a quiet moment today to sit down and finish up a little "cars" card for the v-day drive from Children's hospital...but it seems that life is too crazy for that today. Plus, piecing this little car together has proven to be a bit more complicated then what I thought it would be...anyone else? Or is it just me that thinks the cars cartridge is a bit complicated?

So, looking at the clock (sorry I am posting so late today for those that are playing along)I decided to go ahead and grab yet another card from my BG kit...this kit has been a LIFESAVER! (sorry for doing it again...I promise to get this cars card done tonight/tomorrow :))

Anyway, here's my card for today...Perhaps we should be doing a "countdown" as the days seem to stretch on forever in January (why didn't I pick Feb. to do this challenge?!?) LOL. So only 3 more cards to post after today! Crazy huh!

Have a great day everyone!

2 *TOOTS*~Scrapbook Trends Jan. issue, a card and a digital layout

This morning I received a nice surprise on my door step...2 copies of the January 2009 Trends magazine and a box full of scrapping goodies :) I was lucky enough to be included in this addition with a little layout of my sweet little Gavin....here's the magazine and a picture of my layout:

Also, yesterday I was delighted to see that my little v-day card made the chirp (cricut newsletter) this week :)

In case you missed my "bee mine" card here's a picture of it again :)

Also, over at 2 peas in a bucket today Crystal is releasing her new digital rounded templates. These are a lot of fun and will really kick start those layouts for you! I paired up one of her templates with her rainbow sherbet line. Here's my layout for this week: (make sure to stop over at 2 peas to see what the other designers did this week!):

For today's CAD, I quickly grabbed that good 'ol trusty BG kit and made up this little card. I decided to tie on some tulle and add a button to the card along with some ink. The rest of the card comes straight from the kit.

Have a super day everyone! and remember if you are playing along with my January CAD challenge, leave me a link here so I can post your card today :)

January CAD Challenge~ Day 22

Wow! It's Thursday already! What a crazy wild week this one has turned out to be!

So today I have some REALLY exciting news...Gavin has potty trained HIMSELF! Woohooo...My little baby has decided he has had enough diapers...and without my help has taken matters into his OWN hands! How cool is that! LOL

Yesterday, after I dropped the kids off at school Gavin and I headed over to our local Micheals as they were having a sale on Bazzill! If you are like me you can NEVER have enough Bazzill. Oh what did I ever do before Bazzill...I can't even imagine creating without it anymore!

So while I was there...I was cruising down the isles and found a clearance section...and what did I see but a loot of Basic Grey goodies...I was shocked! After adding in several packages of chipboard, some paper pads, and a few other goodies...I found a card kit. I have never purchased a card kit before but the price really got me thinking. It was marked at 5 dollars for 8 cards. I grabbed it up thinking about how my Mom was saying that she wanted to make some cards but just didn't know how to really get started...I thought this would be a great "pick me up gift" for her. When I got to the register...it rang up for 2.99! Wooohoo...original price was $15...so that ended up being a great deal...so I went back and got one for myself ;)

Anyway, today's little card comes from this little sweet kit. I did do some changing around on it a bit and added in some buttons to make it more "me".

Have a super day everyone! and remember if you are playing along with my January CAD challenge...leave me a link and I will add your card to the list for today :)

CAD Challenge Day 21!

Happy Hump Day everyone! We are having some record high temps. here in Colorado! Yesterday we hit 70 and today I think we will be enjoying the same warm weather! Wow, we are being spoiled! However, it won't be for long as we are expecting a drastic change by this weekend....sigh...

So I was organizing some of my scrapbooking supplies and ran across these little chipboard pieces and thought...I will make a card out of those! The little "bubble" is from cosmo cricket and the little house icon is from Maya Road. the tree was cut out with my cricut using the my community cartridge. I have to say this cartridge has some really fun cuts on it! I am super happy that I was reminded to pull it out during one of our recent BBTB challenges. The saying was cut with my SCAL software using the impact font and some vinyl. I threw in some buttons, some bling, and some faux stitches and there you have it today's card.

Here's my little card:

Also, yesterday Donna "awarded" me with a little blog award. Donna you are too sweet! thanks so much. Along with this "award" you are to name 5 things you are addicted to...and since I recently listed 5 I will name 5 more :)

1. Mary Kay- I do not leave the house without make-up
2. Buttons these are a rather new addiction but I just can't get enough of them!
3. The computer...I spend way to much time on the computer at night when everyone else is asleep!
4. Reality T.V....love it!
5. Noise...I can't stand quiet...quiet to me is music playing...but I have a hard time being still and being quiet.

Have a great day everyone!

CAD Day 20~ History in the making~Digital layouts for Crystal @ 2 peas!

Wow what a title huh! LOL!

A few weeks ago, I received an email from Crystal (creativitybycrystal) Wilkerson asking if I would consider designing for her again. She has recently started designing kits for sale over at 2 Peas...and if you know anything about her creations...they are amazing. I really enjoyed my time working with her templates in the past and now she is also creating digital kits for sale. Crystal has a real talent for design...so of course I was in!

Today over at 2 peas...myself and other design team members will be uploading layouts that we created using her February 365 Kit. You will have to check out the peas because the other designers are just utterly talented ladies and I know you will love their work.

This little kit is being released today so head over at 2 peas and grab it!

Here's the layout that I made with her 365 February kit:

The kids are heading back to school today...and since we are off and running early today I decided to challenge myself to use what was on my desk...and limit it to that. I was working on some design team stuff for scrapstreet magazine so I had some pink paislee laying on my desk. I grabbed some scraps, the tulle, and this little heart. All of these things were laying on my desk. The heart was by accident as it was something that I found while I was cleaning up...and I thought I should get rid of it to my donation box (since I have had it for a few years now)...but...it made it on my card ;)

Here's my "grab" and make it card:

On another note...I tend to keep my political views off of my scrapbooking blog...but I just couldn't help but say that although Obama is not who I voted for, I am excited for "his" swearing in today...as it will be a day our children's children will talk about and it will surely be a part of history that they will study in school. So I will for sure be watching today and I hope that you, if given the chance will also tune in :)

Have a great day everyone!

January CAD Challenge ~ Day 19

Happy Monday! Today we do not have anything "special" planned...we plan on getting some things done around the house...the usual cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and then later I plan on putting up some vinyls on my wall. I think we might head out to see a movie today too...we will see how that goes :)

So a while back I mentioned that I was creating some cards for a card drive for Children's hospital. I took a bit of a break to work on some projects for CHA...but now that I am finished with that...it's on with the v-day cards for kids!

Today's little card was made using the Walk in my Garden cartridge. I used some doodlebug designs paper...this paper is so sweet! I just love the glitter hearts on this paper...I think you will be seeing me create some other things with this paper ;)

Happy Sunday! & CAD ~ Day 18

Wow we are having beautiful weather here in Colorado! It's been so nice to be able to enjoy some outside time with the family. Yesterday, we headed out to Jackson's Basketball game and then spent the rest of the day as a family.

We slept in a bit today...so sorry I am just now getting around to posting my CAD for January.

Today's little card was also created for Scrappin' Sports and More...this uses some of their new release paper...these newest game day lines are my favorite lines that SS&M has out to date!

After completing this little card I decided to make a small little tag and tie some leftover candy to it...

Also, I was "awarded" this little blog award from Sharon and also from Krista

Thanks gals your both just too sweet! Along with this award I am to name a few other blogs that inspire me...so here we go....ReneƩ, Karen, & Natalie...make sure to check out these ladies blogs they are as sweet as they are talented!

Hoping for a lazy weekend...how about you?

Since it's holiday on monday...this is a 3 day weekend for our family! I am so excited to have some time to relax and enjoy the kids...and perhaps read the 3rd twilight series book that my husband gave to me for Christmas and do some cleaning. I will also do a few little cards but I do not have any major creating planned. I feel like I need a little rest from crafting after this week of creating non-stop.

Speaking of creating...my card today was created with some of the new SS&M new goodies that will be released at CHA...

I did use my cricut and my SCAL software to out the little music note...I love SCAL as it opens up so many things that you can do with the cricut!

So what are you up to this weekend?

Today's little card is again from the new releases of Scrappin' Sports and More...I knew I had to make a little shaped basketball card...I mean after making a football card...it was just SCREAMING to be made ;) LOL.

After I finished up this little card...I was itching to put a bow on it...my husband thought I was nuts...but I just couldn't resist...maybe I should have...but that's the beauty of making your own cards you can do whatever strikes your fancy ;)

January Card a Day Challenge~Day 11

Happy Sunday! I plan on having a somewhat lazy day with my family today. Perhaps even treat myself to a nap!

It's hard to believe that I am already on day 11 of my card challenge! Woohoo!

I was inspired to do a "snow" card because we are getting some snow in the mountains today. We really have had a mild winter...so it wouldn't be all that bad to have a bit more of the white stuff :)

I used the joys of the seasons cartridge to cut the snowflake...the card is really pretty simple and would be a great one to make multiples of for a card exchange.

January Card Challenge ~ Day 10

Today I needed to make a card for a guy. I don't know why but sometimes creating a card for a guy can be tricky for me. I think it's because I tend to have a lot of more girlish type papers on hand.

This little card was made using the storybook cartridge. This card came together fast and easy. I was inspired to use the frame as the base of the card and then build up from there.

January Card a Day ~ Day 9

Can you hear me screaming TGIF! Wow...what a long week! The first week back from Christmas break is ROUGH...we kept some really late hours during the holidays and now getting back on track is proven to be really hard.

Today's card is one that I have made before but I wanted to make it again :) I just love this little cut from the doodlecharm cartridge....oh so fun! Don't you just love shape cards? To make the bottom look more like a cone I inked and adhered some grungeboard.

Also, Michelle my fellow BBTB Design Team member and blogger friend, who happens to also be a total sweetie (check out her blog you will love her stuff) awarded me this little blog award....

a few days ago. Sorry I am just now getting this up...but it's been a little crazy around here ;)

So along with this award you are to name 5 of your addictions...so here we go :)

1. Dark Chocolate
2. Diet Pepsi
3. Gymboree
4. Crafting/cricut
5. cute socks! I love socks but they have to be cute! bring on the patterns baby!

January Card Challenge Day 8

Happy Thursday! I don't know about you but I am really looking forward to the weekend! I am just dragging...and looking forward to some extra sleep :)

My sister is now gone...I took her back this morning. We had a great time together crafting, crafting...making some vinyls...laughing and of course shopping! All in all it was a lot of fun...I wish she was closer!

Today's little card was inspired from some rub-ons that I have had for over 2 years! I love this little saying...it reminds me of my daughter and the song "butterfly kisses". Anyway, I used the storybook cartridge to cut out the little butterflies and paired that up with a scroll from maya road and some yummy basic grey goodness :)

It's Early...or late

Depending on how you look at it. It's past midnight...and I know I won't be getting up early so I decided to go ahead and post my card for today before we head off to bed...whew.

After picking up my sister we headed over to Archiver's to do a little shopping therapy. I ended up "treating" myself to a few goodies....boy do they have a lot of fun things! I couldn't resist some valentine goodies a bit of the basic grey bittersweet line (oooolalala) some we are memory keepers, and some doodlebug. Mix that in with some stickles, buttons, and a few rubons...well you get the picture...lots of new fun things :)

So today's card (card 7 in my January challenge) uses some of my new goodies. This pattern paper is made by we are memory keepers and I used the accent essentials cartridge for the hearts.

I "choo" you (valentine)

We survived yesterday...so much running! I am still tired and we are off on another busy day.

My older sister is coming into town today for a visit...and so we will be busy doing lots of shopping, staying up way to late...and of course crafting :) All jam packed into just 2 short days...so this will be my true test to my card challenge...to see if I can get it done with her in town :)

Today's card is another one for the children's hospital v-day card drive. After completing this I showed it to my husband and he thought it was a "get well card". I had to point out to him "choo" or choose...he finally got it. However, I am a bit paranoid about it now. Oh well it's done :) This little engine comes from the my community cartridge. There are so many fun cuts on this cartridge!

January card a day challenge day 5, BBTB, and SS&M

Happy Monday everyone!

We are off and running early this morning. Our Christmas break is officially over and the kids are heading back to school.

My card today comes from the BBTB challenge. We were challenged to use the pencil cut from the my community cartridge. I have to admit this was a real challenge for me...one I REALLY struggled with...but I did it. Make sure to stop over at BBTB to check out what the other gals did...I am sure you will be inspired.

January Card Challenge day 4

Well the kids head back to school today. We are taking things slow today...and just relaxing a bit basically just enjoying our last day before the rushing around starts up again.

Today I actually created a birthday card. This is heading out to one of my extended family members this month! I have seen these little birds everywhere lately...so I decided to give it a try. I used some scenic route papers, the story book cartridge (for the card shape, bird, "tweet", and the leaf) and the rub-ons are from pink paislee.

I also used my design studio to weld the shapes together to create the overall shape of this card.

V-day cards for the Children's Hospital and Day 3 of the card challenge

It's hard to believe that we are already into the 3rd day of January...I was hoping that this year would pass a bit slower than last...but it seems that time just keeps moving a long at a faster pace.

In keeping with my January card challenge I have another card to share today. Today's card was created for a children's hospital v-day card drive. I ran across this card drive when I was visiting Lesli's blog. How could I not help out...I have pledged to make 15 cards for this drive. To find out more about the card drive and how you can help out, visit Julie's blog by clicking here.

Here's my card for today. I used the storybook cartridge to cut out the owl. This little card along with 14 others, will be making their way to the Children's hospital:

Caardvarks Challenge and day 2 of my January Challenge

Today marks day 2 of my January card challenge and I decided to pair this up with caardvarks challenge to use one of Becky Fleck's sketches. This challenge is also sponsored by studio Calico...super prize up for grabs...good luck to all that enter!

In an effort to try to use up some of this mass amount of supplies I own, I reached for some old (but still good) papers by sweetwater scrapbook. I also decided to also use my cricut and deep cutting blade to cut some recycled chipboard. I cut the heart out using the accent essentials cartridge. I have to say that I am loving my deep housing blade...it cuts chipboard so easily.

Anyway, here's my card:

Those 2009 resolutions and some SS&M goodies...

I woke up this morning...ready to go...I am ready to get a head start on my resolutions this year! I took some time over the past few days to review all of my resolutions that I made for 2008! I did pretty good! Which is a first for me...LOL So I am bound and determined to do even better this year!

While I won't bore you (or embarrass me) by listing each of my resolutions out...I will tell you that I have some lofty goals for 2009.

One of my goals for 2009 is to send out more cards, more specifically to send out a birthday card to each of my family members acknowledging that I remembered their birthday. I know that's terrible that I am so bad at that...but I am resolving to change it :)

I realized that in ordered to get this done I would need to be on top of having a good supply of cards ready to go. Last year, Natalie did a challenge where she created several cards during the month of January. So, I have decided to "lift" her idea and create 1 new card each day for the month of January and post it here on my blog in order to keep myself on track.

With that being said...if any of you would like to join me...please do so! Leave me a message here for each day that you want to participate and I will put a link to your blog (or gallery, posting, etc.) at the end of each of my postings so everyone can check out your card that day too :)

Okay...so enough rambling, here's my card that I whipped out early this morning. (I needed 1 more thank you card for Christmas gifts...I need to get these out of the house first):

Also, I have been busy creating some fun things for Scrappin' Sports and More. They have some really neat things coming out at CHA. They will also be focusing on their custom papers...you can get papers from scrappin' sports that are personalized for you! How cool is that? I opted to get some school papers with my children's school names on them and also some basic paper that says celebrate. Here are 3 little projects that I have completed (I will be sharing more soon):
