Back at it....

Well I have the itch to cut vinyl on my cricut expression again! So tonight I made a little sign for Valentine's Day! It was rather difficult to line everything up just so ...so it's not totally perfect...I think my OCD is going to break down (tonight) and purchase some transfer tape so I can design it and lay it out just the way I want :)

But for what it is worth (sorry bad glare on the tips of the letters...they are not blurred..but it's hard to get a great picture inside at night) here it is :)

Now on to how I actually did it (as I have been getting a lot of emails about my creations lately...thank you all for the super nice compliments :))

I first designed it on my design studio on a 12x12 mat and then put a sheet of vinyl to fit onto my 12x12 mat (the vinyl I purchased at a local sign shop...and it is rather cheap to do it that way)

I then took a 12x12 tile that I purchased from Home Depot and placed the letters on much like you would a scrapbooking sticker...as the vinyl is sticky on the back side....and tried to line it up as best as I could. However, you can purchase transfer tape for the vinyl and it makes the process so much easier! When my tape arrives...(as I have to order it) I will try to take a movie of how you do it to share with all of my cricut buds :)

Instead of transfer tape use the clear or transparent contact paper. It comes in rolls at least 12 inches wide so you can lift the whole 12x12 design or 12x24 design.

Jen... I am trying to look for cheaper vinyl. What local sign store did you use? How did you find them?

Kathy...I just went to my local sign shop...called signs...they just sell me their "scraps" I normally get 10 yards or so for around 3-4 bucks...then I will cut it off and size it as I want it...so it works out to be pretty cheap.
I would call around and ask first...one sign shop that I called had a set price and I didn't think it was all that great of a deal...so I kept calling until I found a smaller shop that didn't have a set price and just told me to come in... I think they are happy that I want the extras so it's a win win :)

Where do you live?
